She Gets the Prize
The 2001 Slamdunk Film Festival in Park City, Utah, opened with the world premiere of Lisa Kors' new feature film, Dinner And A Movie, filmed on location in the Berkshires. The film, a romantie comedy described by one reviewer as "Woody Allen on estrogen," played to a packed house and a standing-room only audience and resulted in Kors winning the festival's Best Director prize. "Park City is a mecca for film makers," explains Kors. "Everyone is thereactors, musicians, directors- and they all share a love of film. It's like a Turkish bazaar."
Several people involved with the film, including Iead actresses Marianne Hagan and singer-songwriter Dar Williams, attended the world premiere along with Kors. (Williams contributed two songs to the movie's soundtrack, including "Farewell to the Old Me," which was written specifically for the film.) Dinner And A Movie screened on March 27 at the Coolidge Corner Theatre (Harvard St., Boston, Mass.) as part of the New England Film and Video Festival; Kors hopes it will show at Images Cinema (Williamstown, Mass.) and/or the Mahaiwe Theatre (Gt. Barrington, Mass.) later this summer.
